In October 1999, the “Fourth Conference on Carbon Materials” which hosted by Institute of Coal Chemistry Chinese Academy of Sciences was held in Zhangjiajie, Hunan. Total of 241 representatives from 92 organizations of colleges and universities, research institutes, the production and application departments of enterprises and institutions attended this meeting.

From the breadth of representatives and the depth of academic communication, this meeting fully reflects and represents the current development level of carbon materials science and technology in China.
